Recruiting and retaining the right staff is key to the efficient and successful running of your business. By identifying the skills needs and mapping those against applicants, will ensure that you recruit the right person(s) based on objective criterion.
Having made the selection, it is then important to obtain verification of that person(s) credentials, including whether they have a legal right to work in the UK.
It is important to monitor new recruits during the early stages of their employment, to assess whether they are right for the job and that the Company is right for them. Not only during this period but throughout their employment you need to regularly appraise their performance, identify their strengths and weaknesses, and agree actions to develop their skills for their current job or future roles.
If there are capability or conduct issues these need to be addressed at an early stage, using the appropriate procedures.
